A well-known food manufacturer has been fined and ordered to pay legal costs after one of its workers suffered a nasty crushing injury resulting in the amputation of a limb.
The woman, who ran a successful cleaning business, started to suffer severe back ache and tingling down her legs and was referred for an MRI scan by her GP. What should have been straightforward diagnosis and treatment turned into a nightmare after delays have now caused a permanent spinal injury.
It was supposed to be a treat for losing lots of weight but the woman has now been left with eyelids that won’t close causing her eyes to continuously water.
The CQC has been doing the rounds again; inspecting struggling hospitals and looking for improvements to the quality of care.
The North Cumbria NHS Trust, which runs the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital has been evaluated as still requiring improvement.
