A car accident between two vehicles on a busy A road, resulted in one car being flipped over onto its roof causing traffic chaos on the roads and requiring multiple emergency services to attend. The accident involved a Ford Fiesta and a truck and happened at approximately 3.20 pm on a southbound carriageway when emergency services were called.
A Police spokesman reported that no-one was seriously injured in the road traffic accident and witnesses report seeing firefighters using hydraulic equipment to cut the car open to release the 2 occupants of the upturned car. An air ambulance also attended the accident site and transported the injured parties to the nearest hospital.
Due to the extent of the debris on the roads, there were tailbacks of over 3 miles whilst emergency services tended to the injured, remove the damaged vehicles and conducted accident investigations. The road re-opened at 5.15 pm that afternoon.
