There have been reports of a pedestrian, a man in his 30’s, who has been injured after being involved in an incident with a bus. The road traffic accident happened at approximately 2.20 pm in the afternoon when city centre traffic was particularly busy.
Emergency services including two ambulances and an air ambulance responded quickly to 999 calls and provided medical treatment to the pedestrian and passengers on the bus.
An ambulance spokesperson said: “We were called to a road traffic collision in …. Road in …. at 2.19pm.
“Two ambulances, the ….. air ambulance, medical car and an ambulance officer attended.
“Crews treated a man, believed to be in his 30s, with facial injuries. He was taken to …….Hospital for further care.
“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
It is not yet known how the accident happened as to whether was the bus that directly injured the pedestrian or the bollard that the bus hit, that injured the pedestrian as he crossed the road.
Police are requesting witness to the accident to come forward with information.
A bus company representative said: “One of our buses was involved in an incident involving a pedestrian at around 2.20pm in .. today.
“Our first thoughts are for the welfare of the person involved. Safety is our absolute priority.
“We are assisting the police with their inquiries as well as carrying out our own investigation.”
