A man has secured a £4 million compensation payout after suffering a brain injury after a head on collision. The injured man was only 18 at the time of the accident and had been driving friends home when he was hit, head on, by a car travelling in the opposite direction.
The other driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the 18 year at speed leaving him with a fractured leg, shoulder and foot injuries, a broken nose and a serious brain injury.
The brain injury was a result of a severe trauma to the frontal lobe of his brain which affects emotional control and executive functioning.
His insurers initially claimed his head injury was not serious but a lengthy case proved that he was left with serious communication problems, behavioural difficulties and anger management issues which meant holding down a job or having normal relationships virtually impossible.
The successful compensation payout will help fund a long-term residential rehabilitation programme designed for people suffering from the effects of a brain injury.
