Probate, Wills and Private Client Solicitor

Qualifications
- Must have at least 4/5 years’ PQE
- Must have specialised in probate and wills work previously
- Experience of agricultural/rural work/clients
- Ability to develop new business in the agricultural and rural sectors, with good networking links in the area.
- Being an existing member of the ALA and or STEP would also be a benefit.
The position is a varied role within the Probate, and Wills department. You would join a team of 6 people as a senior team member. Your role would be to deal with our existing clients, as well as to gain new clients especially from the agricultural and rural sectors.
Duties for the Fee earner will include:
- Handling a mixed private client caseload comprising Wills, Powers of Attorney, Estate Administration, Court of Protection and Inheritance Tax planning;
- You will need a breadth of experience of advising owners of farms and rural businesses, agricultural industries, and possibly landed estates, as well as clients from less rural backgrounds.
- You will be flexible in working across our offices in Whaley Bridge, Buxton, Macclesfield and Holmes Chapel.
- You will have strong communication skills to network and build up connections within the rural communities. You will be expected to grow and develop the rural work case load in a proactive manner working in liaison with the Head of Probate and Wills, but very much as a self-starter with their own ideas for marketing to this community.
- As required you will also cover for the Head of department in management and staffing issues.
- To liaise effectively with the firm’s property and employment departments to provide the highest level of seamless client service.
- To hold a general understanding of agricultural property/rural matters/APR to ensure that the client is best advised even if the property transaction is carried out within our property department.
- To ensure that the firm becomes a recognised local rural affairs player in the legal/professional rural community.
- To keep up to date with changes in the law and disseminate specialist information to other colleagues.
- To achieve office targets and grow the department with the Head of Department.

- Knowledge of Proclaim case management system is desirable but not essential

Salary/Benefits
- Bonus – Dependant on performance of the department, paid monthly with an annual discretionary bonus

Hours
- Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm with a lunch break of one hour each day
