A woman from Scotland is lucky to be alive after firefighters rescued her from her blazing vehicle after a car accident.
Crews had to work quickly to extinguish the fire in the engine of the car, before using specialist equipment to cut her out of the vehicle safely.
Reports state that it was more than an hour before the 48-year-old was finally cut free. She was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment.
Surrounding roads were disrupted for as long as 2hrs as paramedics and fire crews both attended to the injured woman.
A spokesperson from the fire department said: “On arrival of the ambulance service the watch manager in charge explained to paramedics the tactical options available for releasing the casualty.
