A teenager from Bury St Edmunds who was left partially paralysed after an accident during training will receive compensation for the incident.
The 16-year-old seriously injured her spine in a accident at a gymnasium in her local town.
According to papers that have been lodged with the High Court, a personal injury claim that was made after the accident nearly two years ago has now been settled between the family and the gym owners.
A High Court approval meeting is now being scheduled to officially settle the claim. The final sum which the teenager will receive has not been announced.
Since the accident the girl has lost movement in the right hand side of her body and has impaired sensation on the left.
A spokesperson from the gym said, “What happened to [name] was a tragic accident and we are all pleased that a settlement has been reached that will support her recovery process.
“Everyone at the club and indeed the whole British gymnastics community wish her all the best in her on-going rehabilitation.”
