Teenage cyclist suffers head injury in accident with car

A teenage cyclist from Southend has been seriously injured after she was hit by a car. 

The girl, who is believed to be 16, was involved in the smash with a black Vauxhall Astra in Queensway, Southend last night (7th October 2012).

Paramedics were called to the scene, near to Enterprise Rentcars, at 7.10pm.

£1,752.20 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support

8th October 2012

Kettles must have nearly melted at Thorneycroft Solicitors’ Macmillan coffee morning – the notes and coins have all been counted up and an amazing £876.10 was raised. With the directors doubling the amount that means an incredible £1,752.20 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Well done everybody! What an amazing result!

Thorneycroft Solicitors World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Kettles were working overtime on Friday as staff at Thorneycroft Solicitors joined in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Thorneycroft Solicitors have been supporting the event for a number of years, but this is was the biggest yet, raising over £1,000.

Bricklayer to get compensation after life-threatening electric shock

A bricklayer who sustained a life-threatening electric shock has been told that he will receive a substantial compensation payout.

The 50-year-old was building a wall in Weymouth when he came in to contact with a mains cable.

High voltage electricity ran through his body and set the t-shirt he was wearing on fire.
