Pregnancy complications are something that affects a huge number of people across the UK on a daily basis, and when they’re close to home, they can have huge impacts on all of those close to the family.
For our associate director, Craig, the impact was enough to make him want to make a difference.
Following complications during pregnancy, his friend’s son Jacob was born with a serious illness which resulted in him having to stay in intensive care for 16 days.
Thanks to the Arrowe Park Ronald McDonald House, Craig’s friends were able to visit Jacob daily, which spared them a 90 mile round trip. For many parents, institutes such as the Ronald McDonald House Charity offer much-needed relief during these troubling times and for this reason, Craig has opted to do something to say thank you to them.
Last Thursday at Thorneycroft Solicitors, we raised £180 by having a dress down day in aid of the Ronald McDonald Charity, but it doesn’t end there… On Saturday 15th July, Craig and a group of family and friends embarked on a 43 mile bike ride from Leighton Hospital to Arrowe Park!
For those that don’t know where these are, Arrowe Park is near Liverpool whilst Leighton Hospital is in Crewe – a large distance for a huge cause.
Prior to the day of the event, Craig had already stated that:
1) It’s a long way
2) It’s going to be warm
3) It’s not all downhill
4) He’s got small legs
Thankfully (for Craig) he has this week off to recover and we’re sure that he needs it now!
We are also very pleased to announce that the fundraising for the charity has hit the £2,500 mark and is still rising!
