Wills & Probate Legal Secretary

We currently have a vacancy for a Legal Secretary to join our growing team on a permanent basis.

 

Thorneycroft Solicitors is one of the North West’s leading firms of solicitors, employing 150 people across all areas of the legal profession. Probably the largest employer in central Macclesfield, many of the team have been with the company for over 10 years, contributing towards an exceptional bank of knowledge, experience and expertise.

 

Experience

 

  • The preferred candidate will have at least 2 years+ experience in a current Wills & Probate legal secretarial role

 

Skills/Competencies

 

  • Produce correspondence and legal documentation via BIG Hand/audio and copy typing
  • Proof reading
  • Making/taking telephone calls with clients
  • Diary management
  • Photocopying
  • Paginating
  • Filing
  • Dealing with post
  • To make appointments, arrange meetings and to liaise with fee earners and clients
  • To provide support to other secretaries as required
  • Updating databases
  • Storage of documents
  • To administer opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files
  • To prepare mail and enclosures for despatch if required
  • Marketing assistance
  • Managing the Certainty Will register
  • To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development
  • To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information

Essential Criteria

  • Previous legal experience is an advantage
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent command of English spelling, punctuation and grammar (Grade C and above at GCSE or equivalent)
  • Excellent word processing and audio typing skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, including professional and friendly telephone manner

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of the Proclaim case management system
  • Experience of digital dictation

  • Ability to deliver under pressure

 

Salary/Benefits

 

  • Salary – Dependent upon experience
  • 29 days inclusive of bank holidays annual leave (increases with length of service)
  • Birthday day off
  • Death in service benefit
  • Pension

 

Hours

  • Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm with a lunch break of one hour each day
