A 31 year old woman is blaming her NHS surgeons and the surgical team after being left with a large unsightly hole in her navel after having surgery to alleviate her Crohn’s disease symptoms.
She alleges that the botched NHS operation actually perforated an abscess in her stomach which became infected, preventing her scars from healing properly. She also claims the medical team did not stitch her up and has now been left with a large, unsightly dent which leaves her internal organs at risk of injury.
Because she has been told the scaring, whilst extensive, is not life threatening or a risk to her health, she will need to raise £15k privately to rectify it for cosmetic reasons. The woman feels she has been poorly treated by the NHS in terms of treatment and after care and has had to be prescribed anti-depressants due to low self-esteem and depression.
She said: ‘I could probably write a book about all the things that weren’t done properly.
‘The operation was meant to give me five good years Crohn’s free, but so far I’m in a worse position than ever before.’
‘I was never warned that any of this would happen. The whole ordeal was horrific.’
She is now trying to raise the funds for corrective surgery through crowdfunding.
