Motorists were warned of severe delays on the roads after three vehicles were involved in a road traffic accident at approximately 12.30 pm in the afternoon.
The accident occurred on a busy A road when two Lorries and a car collided causing damage to all the vehicles and then the vehicles blocked the highway. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident and the occupants of the vehicles were left with only minor injuries and shock.
Emergency services arrived promptly to check on those involved in the collision and also to secure the area, should there be any flammable liquids on the roads. Due to the size of the vehicles involved, fire crews helped secure the larger vehicles and ensured there was no fire hazards. Roads were temporarily diverted until the roads were cleared a few hours later.
A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service said, “We were called at 12.30pm to reports of a collision.
“We did send ambulance crew and an ambulance officer, but they left the scene at about 1.30pm as there were no injuries.”
A police spokesperson said, “There are thought to be just minor injuries.
“We expect that the road is going to remain closed for some time as the lorries need recovering from the motorway.
“There is also thought to be some fluid in one of the lanes so Highways England have been notified; it will take some time for the road to be cleared.”
