A child from York was taken to hospital this week when the brake lever of her bicycle became lodged in her knee in a freak accident near Castle Howard.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services said it was called by ambulance paramedics to the Lakeside Holiday park where a 9-year-old child had fallen off her bicycle and the brake level had pierced her knee and become stuck.
Emergency crews confirmed that they used specialist hi-tech cutting equipment to remove the handlebars from the bike before the girl was taken to hospital to have the level removed.
She is now continuing her recovery at home.
