A woman who recently suffered a broken leg has said she is living a ‘nightmare’ after not being offered help at home.
The patient suffered the broken leg on December 7 and was taken to Colchester hospital where she was given a full leg cast but since then she has not been offered any home help by the NHS.She has to rely on friends to help her with basic care like getting out of bed and going to the toilet. “I asked the hospital for some support services – someone to come in at lunchtime and make sure I am alright. But I was told I was not entitled to it.” She said
“They wanted me to stay in hospital – but I am not ill, I have a broken leg.”
Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust responded : “This is the first time that we have heard of her concerns and we would encourage her to contact us so that we can carry out a full investigation.”
