A woman has been awarded nearly £5,000 after losing a tooth as a result of poor dental treatment.
The woman sued the dentist after routine root canal treatment and a crown left her tooth so badly broken and infected it had to be removed.
The mum of three visited the practice in May 2008 where a crown was poorly fitted and an infection and painful abscess set in when food became lodged in it.
Following a catalogue of problems, including a visit to Accident & Emergency, the woman went to a different dentist where she was informed her tooth was irreparably fractured due to the negligent root canal treatment and that she would have to have it extracted.
She said: “I was relieved to finally know the reason behind so many months of pain but absolutely furious I was put in that position in the first place.”
