A tourist who was knocked down and seriously injured by a Welsh catholic priest while on holiday in Rome is now seeking £11million in damages.
The 36-year-old suffered severe head injures and a broken back when he was struck by the car driven be the priest whist enjoying his vacation.
The recruitment consultant, who suffered brain damage and is now in a wheelchair, is suing the priest along with his motor insurers.
The sum of £11million is to cover him for pain and suffering, loss of earnings and the costs of the care and special equipment he will need to make the most of the rest of his life.
The accident victim is making the claim through his mother as he lacks the legal capacity to sue the priest himself.
Lawyers for the priest had previously argued that the accident victim was wearing dark clothes and had stepped out in to the street without checking for traffic when the accident happened, however they have now admitted to 80% liability for his injuries.
The victim has already received over £800,000 in compensation but now says he is seeking up to a total of £11million for his future care and needs.
