Anyone unfortunate enough to have been involved in a road traffic accident will know and appreciate the importance of fast, emergency support in the form of a land or air ambulance. Many motorcyclist’s, due to the severity of their injuries, are airlifted to their nearest trauma unit for emergency care which often saves lives or prevents catastrophic injury.
This week is National Air Ambulance Week and here at Thorneycroft Solicitors, we are proud to support our local air ambulance service the NWAA charity. In July this year alone, they carried out 197 Missions which included assisting with 90 road traffic collisions (rtc), 30 sport / leisure injuries, 22 medical emergencies, 20 slip or falls, 18 hospital transfers and 17 others.
The NWAA is not funded by the government, it a service maintained by charitable contributions. Last year, wonderful people raised over £4 million pounds after more than 1,500 events were organised by volunteers and the general public to raise much needed funds to keep the essential service going. They also raised funds through running charity shops and running a lottery which has meant that they have been allowed to fly over 19,719 missions since May 1999.
Their latest fundraising event is a Mission Walk on the Sunday 25th September at 12pm starting at Wyresdale Park Estate, PR31BA.
Please support this event and help keep paramedics, doctors and pilots in the air to save lives and make a life changing difference to patients across the North West.
