A man in his 70s had to be cut free from his vehicle after an incident in Shropshire.
One of the vehicles involved in the crash was flipped on to its roof when the accident happened on Shrewsbury Road in Wem.
A Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Focus were also involved in the road traffic accident.
The man driving the Corsa was taken to the University Hospital in North Staffordshire with numerous injuries to his head, back and neck.
A spokesperson for the ambulance services that attended the accident scene said, “One car was upside down and one ambulance was sent to the scene. A man in his 70s was in the overturned car and had to be extradited with the help of the fire service.”
“He suffered back and chest injuries and a suspected head injury. He was given pain relief, immobilised and taken to hospital in North Staffordshire via land ambulance.”
Fire crews from Wem, Prees and Wellington were sent to the accident scene and spent approximately 20 minutes freeing the pensioner from the wreck.
He is now recovering from his injuries in hospital.
