Nottingham has followed in the footsteps of London and launched its own cycle hire scheme.
At least 17 bike stands full of black and green bikes will be installed across the city over the next few months.
The bikes will be available free of charge to those who own a ‘Kangaroo Travel Car’ and will come at a cost of £2 per week for everyone else.
RideWise instructor Adrian Juffs, who was one of the first people to try out the bikes said: “They’re great for what they’re designed to do. You’ve got big, flat seats which are good for people who are not used to cycling, they have three gears, lights and locks. It’s not much money at all, it’s very cheap.”
Several racks are already in place, making the bikes ready to use right away.
Cleverly they also come with their own lock instead of having the locking docs, so users can keep it safe no matter where they are in the city.
100 bikes are currently in place and its expected that a further 250 will be available by the end of 2013.
Recently had a cycling accident that wasn’t your fault? The good news is that you could be entitled to compensation.
