A motorist had to be cut free from his vehicle after being involved in a serious accident on a road near Southampton.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Sunvale Close and South East Road in Sholing after a collision between a Ford Mondeo and a Ford Focus.
The driver of the Mondeo had to be cut free by firefighters as he was left trapped inside. He was thought to be aged in his sixties.
Police closed the carriageway and diverted traffic while the road was cleared of debris and the accident was investigated.
The accident victim was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment for his injuries.
