A 10 year old girl who suffered a catastrophic brain injury during her birth is to receive £4.5 million compensation from The Colchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
The parents of the girl had taken the case to the High Court and whilst the hospital denies negligence they have agreed to pay 70% of the damages which equate to £4.5 million.
The parents Solicitor said later: “In the vast majority of cases medical treatment in this country is carried out very competently…However, in Samantha’s case, mistakes were made following her birth which led to a catastrophic brain injury.”
The child’s mother said “Samantha’s settlement may seem like a lot but it will all be needed to look after Samantha on a daily basis and to secure her future needs.”
