A senior nurse has been suspended for 12 months by the Nursing & Midwifery Council following a disciplinary hearing. The panel heard how the nurse used staff for her own personal use whilst on duty and created an unacceptable working environment amongst fellow employees.
The misconduct is said to have taken place between 2002 and 2007 and included making a colleague do personal errands for her. She has been charged with asking a support worker to drive her to Ikea, take her car to a garage and to do odd jobs at her home.
The nurse faced allegations of bullying in May 2007 when claims were made after she shouted, ‘You! Office! Now!’ at a staff member and then did not speak to them for 17 weeks following the incident. The panel also heard that she deliberately stopped speaking to the ward sister for five weeks after a disagreement. The nurse has denied the charges and claims its part of a “conspiracy”.
