A worker who was seriously injured in an incident with a ladder is set to receive a large compensation payout for his injuries.
The man, who was working on a new build property, had to use a ladder to get to the second floor as stairs hadn’t been fitted.
The worker returned to the ladder to climb back down to the first floor but the wooden frame it was attached to fell apart and he fell around 35ft to the ground.
He suffered various serious injuries including fractures in a number of his vertebrae.
The engineer now suffers from permanent back pain and the relies on pain-killers to numb the pain.
Although he is now able to work again, he has had to take a supervisory role and he is unable to lift heavy items.
He was awarded a total of £50,000 in compensation in an out of court settlement.
