Princess Diana’s biographer has told how he escaped from a horrible car accident on holiday which killed a woman and a baby during his honeymoon in South Africa.
Morton and his wife were on the way to the airport at the end of their romantic holiday together when their car collided head-on with another vehicle.
A South-African woman and a one-year-old child both died in the crash which happened shortly before midnight.
A spokesperson from the country’s Department of Community Safety said investigations in to the cause of the incident were now being carried out.
58-year-old Morton was hospitalised following the accident and his newly-wed wife suffered minor injuries.
“It was a marvellous holiday. We were watching lions and a female leopard shortly before hitting the road and that horrible accident happened,” he said.
He said that he and his wife could have been killed in the incident had they not been wearing safety belts when their Mahindra collided with the Honda.
